The standard Black Rubber Castor is normally produced from a mixture of NR and
SBR, with formulations comparable to automotive wheels.

For most Casters the tires are made by Compression moulding method, that is a relatively simple technique whereby a Mould Tool is created to the required profile of the caster wheel. The compound is placed into mould, together with the wheel hub which includes being covered with an adhesive. The mould is usually closed and held under great pressure by a heated press enabling the rubber to amalgamate and form into the shape of the tyre. The Mould is then simply opened and the completed product is removed.
